Shannon Douglass
President
Shannon Douglass was elected as president of the California Farm Bureau in December 2023. She previously served three terms as first vice president, having been elected in 2017, 2019 and 2021.
Douglass has served as director of the Glenn County Farm Bureau and as chair of the CFBF Young Farmers and Ranchers State Committee. She is a graduate of the Leadership Farm Bureau program and participated in the American Farm Bureau Federation Partners in Advocacy Leadership program. She won the California YF&R Discussion Meet in 2007 and is a graduate of the California Agricultural Leadership Program. Her Farm Bureau service has also included numerous Farm Bureau committees at the state and National levels.
She is an owner of Douglass Ranch, which raises beef cattle, walnuts, sunflowers, pumpkins, corn, and forage crops in Orland. Additionally, she co-founded CalAgJobs, an online listing of employment opportunities in California agriculture.
Douglass serves on the Glenn County Fair Board of Directors and the advisory board for the Hamilton City FFA chapter. She is a former director of the Glenn County Resource Conservation District.
Her previous experience includes serving as a consultant on ag career awareness, talent recruitment, social media, and communications for agricultural clients, lecturing on agricultural topics at both Butte College and California State University, Chico.
Douglass earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture with a minor in ag business and a master’s degree focused on agricultural policy, each from CSU Chico.
Shaun Crook
1st Vice President
Shaun Crook was elected 1st vice president of the California Farm Bureau Federation in December 2023. He previously served as 2nd vice president in 2019 and 2021.
Crook was elected president of the Tuolumne County Farm Bureau in 2015 and is a graduate of the Leadership Farm Bureau program. He chaired both the CFBF Economy and Farm Policy Issue Advisory Committee and the Commodity Policy Review Committee. He has also served on the CFBF Resolutions Committee.
A licensed timber operator, Crook is a vice president of a family timber business and a real estate agent specializing in ranch, commercial and residential properties. He is a member of TuCare, the Tuolumne County Alliance for Resources and Environment.
Crook earned a degree in agricultural business from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
Ron Peterson
2nd Vice President
Ron Peterson was elected 2nd vice president of the California Farm Bureau in December 2023.
Peterson previously served on the California Farm Bureau Board of Directors, including three years as chairman of the finance committee. He graduated from the Leadership Farm Bureau program in 2004 and served as president of the Stanislaus County Farm Bureau in 2012-14.
Peterson is a cattle rancher and dairy farmer who also grows silage crops and almonds. He has 25 years of experience as a certified public accountant and has served as chief financial officer for Associated Feed & Supply Co. and the Central Valley Production Credit Association.
Dan Durheim
Chief Operating Officer
Dan Durheim joined the California Farm Bureau in July 2024 as its first-ever chief operating officer. In this role, he focuses on strengthening the organization while managing the day-to-day operations and strategic direction.
Most recently, Durheim served as associate vice president of sponsor relations for Nationwide Insurance, building strong relationships with state Farm Bureaus, including the California Farm Bureau. He served a nearly 18-year tenure with the American Farm Bureau Federation in varying roles, including executive director of industry affairs, foundation executive director and director of program development. His experience also includes working in leadership positions within the Minnesota Farm Bureau.
Durheim’s passion for agriculture and rural America was ingrained at a young age, growing up in a rural Minnesota community and being involved in youth organizations like 4-H and FFA. Durheim continued his journey at the University of Minnesota, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture education and development.
Jason Greer
Treasurer
Jason Greer was appointed as Treasurer of the California Farm Bureau in 2024.
Greer served as the California Farm Bureau’s controller from 2020 to 2024. Before this, he held various accounting and management positions in the Sacramento Valley region, spanning both public accounting and private sector roles. His journey into agriculture began as a Controller for an affiliate pear and cherry packing company.
Greer holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in Accounting from California State University, Sacramento, and is a licensed certified public accountant.
